Anwesh Upadhyaya wins Akshayakalpa Fiesta Rapid Rating Open 2023

Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya and Vignesh B scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 each at Akshayakalpa Fiesta Rapid Rating Open 2023. Anwesh won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Vignesh was placed second. They did not face each other. Apoorv Kamble, Sathvik Adiga, Gugan G and Madhesh Kumar S scored 8/9. They were adjudged third to sixth respectively. 11-year-old Rosh Jain won the Blitz Open 8/9. Team Magizhchi comprising IM C R G Krishna and WGM Srija Seshadri scored 11/12 to win the Mixed Doubles event. The total cash prize fund for the entire fiesta was ₹300000. The top three prizes in Rapid were ₹25000 + trophy, ₹20000 and ₹18000, for Blitz it was ₹5000, ₹4500 and ₹4000 each, for Mixed Doubles they were ₹10000, ₹8000 and ₹7000 each. It was truly a chess fiesta as the Rapid Rating Open event witnessed 741 players and the combined participation in the entire fiesta was 1018. The fiesta draws over 1000 participations

741 players in the Rapid Rating, 195 in the Blitz Open and 82 in the Mixed Doubles make the total participation at Akshayakalpa Chess Fiesta at a whopping 1018. That's not all, two IMs and a WGM also took part in this event. The chess universe is familiar with Akshayakalpa Organic thanks to their sponsorship of GM Nihal Sarin. Innovators Chess Academy organizes multitude of tournaments - Classical, Rapid and Blitz Open events. Apart from organizing Rapid Rating and Blitz Open event, this time they also had a Mixed Doubles event. It meant each team must have a male and female player.

Sushruta Reddy not only trains kids, organizes plenty of events for all, but also loves playing chess

He scored 7/9 in Rapid, 5.5/9 in Blitz and 4.5/6 in the Mixed Doubles for Cognoscente Constellate: Pedagogue and Primus. He dons various hat and manages all roles in a fantastic way.

A total of 741 players including 2 IMs and a WGM took part from various states across the country in the two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament held on 2nd and 3rd September 2023. It was organized by Innovators Chess Academy at Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The time control was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
