Garv Gaur wins SARK India - CPA Rajasthan Rapid Rating Open 2024
FM Garv Gaur, IM Aaditya Dhingra and Kartavya Anadkat scored 8/9 each at SARK India - CPA Rajasthan Rapid Rating Open 2024. Garv won the tournament on tie-breaks, Aaditya and Kartavya were placed second and third respectively. The top two finishers remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000 + trophies. The top three prizes were ₹41100, ₹25000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each respectively. The two-day rating tournament was organized by Chess Parents Association Rajasthan on 7th and 8th September 2024 at S M S Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The SARK India - CPA Rajasthan Open International Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2024 was a chess extravaganza that showcased the incredible talent and skill of India's rising stars. Held in the vibrant city of Jaipur at SMS Indoor Stadium, the event attracted a diverse field of 336 players, including one Grandmaster, five International Masters, three FIDE masters, and 165 International rated players.
The Champions Emerge
The tournament progressed on expected lines as seeded players registered comfortable victories on earlier part of the event. Hard fought battles ensured a thrilling end to the event as three players tied for the pole position with eight points. In the end, it was the young and talented FM Garv Gaur of Haryana who emerged as the champion. Garv's exceptional play throughout the tournament earned him the top spot and a well-deserved cash prize of ₹41100. His victory was a testament to his hard work, dedication, and unwavering belief in his abilities.
Following closely behind Garv Gaur were IM Aaditya Dhingra of Haryana and Kartavya Anadkat of Gujarat, who secured the first and second runner-up positions respectively. Their impressive performances showcased the depth of talent in Indian chess and the bright future that lies ahead for the sport.
The tournament was a thrilling battle of wits, with players from across the country vying for the coveted championship title. The competition was fierce, with each round bringing new challenges and opportunities. The players' strategic brilliance, tactical acumen, and nerves of steel were put to the test as they fought for victory.
The tournament was expertly officiated by a team of experienced arbiters led by IA Rajendra Teli as Chief Arbiter. His team included Deputy Chief - IA Bhagwati Sharma and IA Neelesh Kumawat, who were ably supported by Sector Arbiters FA Jayendra Chaturvedi, FA Nakul Chaudhary, FA Sanjiv Sharma, SNA Krishna Chandra Swarnkar, SNA Jitesh Sharma, and SNA Laxmi Kumari. Their collective expertise ensured the smooth and fair conduct of the event.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of many distinguished guests, including Sumit Modi, Chairman of SARK India, Rajeev Surana, Senior Advocate, Rajasthan High Court, Archana Surana, Chairman, Arch College of Business and Design, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Director, SRK Super specialty Hospital, Dr. Anamika Jain, Consultant, Neo Clinic Children Hospital and Pushpender Kumar Swami, Secretary, VKIA Association, Jaipur. Their attendance added to the prestige and significance of the event. The SARK India-CPA Rajasthan Open International Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2024 will be remembered as a memorable event that showcased the best of Indian chess. The tournament provided a platform for talented players to compete at the highest level, while also contributing to the growth and development of the sport in the country. As the next generation of chess stars continues to emerge, the future of Indian chess looks brighter than ever.
Beyond the championship
During the two days event, CPA Rajasthan along with Mahavir International Pinkcity Charitable Trust organized a plantation drive #EkPedMaaKeNaam the campaign initiated by Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at SMS Stadium Jaipur. More than 250 trees were planted by players and parents during the two days event, which will reinforce our duty for environmental conservation. The SARK India - CPA Rajasthan Open Rapid Rating Tournament was more than just a chess tournament; it was a celebration of the game and its ability to bring people together. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the participants, while also providing a platform for young talent to showcase their skills. In addition to the competitive aspect, the tournament also made a significant contribution to the local community. CPA Rajasthan along with Mahavir International Pinkcity Charitable Trust organized a plantation drive in conjunction with the event, with over 250 trees planted by players and parents. A total of 322 players including a GM and four IMs took part from all over the country in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Chess Parents Association Rajasthan at S M S Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 7th and 8th September 2024. The time control of the event was 20 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
