Pradeep Kumar R A wins 2nd HDCA Rating Open 2023
Pradeep Kumar R A and Arghya Sen scored 8/9 each at 2nd HDCA Rating Open 2023. Pradeep won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Arghya secured second place. Arpan Das, Kumar Gaurav, Nigash G, Jyotshnav Talukdar and Shrihan Sabat scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed third to seventh respectively. Pradeep, Gaurav and Pradip Ghosh remained undefeated among the top ten finishers. Marium Fatima became the sole female player to finish in top ten. She scored 7/9 to be placed ninth. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹416000. The top three prizes were ₹75000 + trophy, ₹50000 and ₹30000 each. This was Pradeep's third tournament triumph of the year. Pradeep Kumar R A was the sole leader 7.5/8 heading into the final round. He drew against Kumar Gaurav to become the champion 8/9. Both Pradeep and Gaurav remained undefeated. Marium Fatima lost against Arghya Sen. Akash Tiwari lost to Arpan Das. Arghya secured second place and Arpan third. Before this event, Pradeep won 8th Sri M S V Memorial Rating Open 2023 and All India Civil Services Team Men 2023 for RSB Chennai. He remained unbeaten in all three triumphs.
Mr. Manish Jaiswal, MLA of Hazaribagh was invited as the Chief Guest along with the Joint Director (DIG PTC) of Hazaribagh Police Training Academy, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh and the Hazaribagh Police superintendent, Mr. Manoj Ratan Chothe along with Environmentalist, Surendra Prasad Singh and IM Suvrajit Saha were invited as guests of honor at the inauguration ceremony.
The tournament was inaugurated with the lightning of the lamp by all the above mentioned guests along with the Chief Arbiter, Mr. Vishal Kumar Minz. Moreover, the Tournament Director, Mr. Karan Jaiswal along with many other dignitaries were also present in the inaugural function of this tournament. The function was presided by the Hazaribag District Chess Association's President, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh and conducted by the Executive Committee head, Mr. Manmit Akela.

A total of 309 players including an IM took part from various states across the country and one from England in this five-day nine round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Hazaribag District Chess Association at Multipurpose Hall, Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribag, Jharkhand from 22nd to 26th November 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
