Rupesh B Ramchandra wins Appycrown Chess for Everyone Rating Open 2023 in Bihar

Rupesh B Ramchandra and Vipul Subhashi scored 7.5/9 at Appycrown Chess for Everyone Rating Open 2023 in Motihari, Bihar. Rupesh won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. He also remained undefeated. Vipul secured second place. 13-year-old Ranit Maity edged past four other players at 7/9 to be placed third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹43000 + 20 trophies. The top three prizes were ₹11000, ₹8000 and ₹6000 each respectively. Rupesh is the reigning Patna District champion. His last rating tournament triumph was the very same event, more than a year ago. The objective of Chess for Everyone tournaments is to have a low entry barrier of only ₹250, encourage maximum players to take part in rating tournaments and gain rating. An encore performance for Rupesh

Aniket Ranjan was the sole leader heading into the final round 7/8. Rupesh B Ramchandra, Vipul Subhashi and Ram Charan were trailing him by a half point at 6.5/8. Aniket lost to Rupesh and Vipul beat Ram Charan in the final round. Thus, Rupesh became champion, Vipul second. Ranit Maity won against Shaurya Prakash S to finish third. Ranit was the youngest among the top ten.

A total of 114 players took part from various states across the country in this five-day nine round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by East Champaran District Chess Association at Khel Bhawan in Motihari, Bihar from 6th to 10th December 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
