Alpine APL Pipers are showing why they are considered the favourites for the Global Chess League 2026. After 2 days of action, the team led by Magnus Carlsen is the only unbeaten team in the tournament. On the 2nd day, Alpine APL Pipers started the day with a dominating win over Ganges Grandmasters. Magnus was in a completely losing position against Ian Nepomniachtchi, but he escaped like a magician to remain unbeaten. Meanwhile, Vidit and Humpy scored important wins. Match 5: Alpine APL Pipers vs. Ganges Grandmasters (11-6)

It was the 1st game of the 2nd day, and the icon clash was between Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi. It was a crazy game that ended in a draw. Lastly, Magnus was completely losing, but he kept fighting, and his resistance paid off as he held a draw. Koneru Humpy defeated Stavroula Tsolakidou, and Vidit Gujarathi won against Leinier Dominguez Perez, which helped Alpine win the match.

The Margin was very close, as Nihal defeated Aronian and Bibisara lost against Polina. Ian clutched the win for Ganges Grandmasters, and American Gambits suffered their 1st loss.
